well here in Mo-town, Our recording methods are as followed.... we'll have a beat track playing for tempo mapping, while recording only the vocals into Audacity multitracking software...main vocals, layered vocals, and back up vocals.....that gets chopped up and mixed together/ processed with fx etc. saved as a wav. files......which are then individually loaded into Reason 3.0's NN-XT sampler....from there, the instrumental tracks start layering and structuring around the vocals.....back in the day though....it was all done with just a Boss Dr-5 drum machine, microphone and tapedeck....the down fall to that was, being 3 of us in the group....recording vocals meant that if one of us fucked up...we all had to redo our shit, which got annoying at times...but it did help to perfect the track and memorize the song for our street corner performances everyday on the way to the store for bread and milk. Cause we'd always have someone runnin up on us sayin bust a rap whiteboy..
